Wk 13 – Art Experience – Art Care Package (ACP)

This week’s art experience was different because the whole class and I had to write our name and address on a piece of paper and put them in a hat.  What made this activity exciting was that we had to randomly draw a piece of paper from the hat, not knowing the person we got.  Unfortunately,  from the piece of paper that I received did not have their name, just their home address.  I was not able to look up the person in the roster to see what things might interest them.  I decided to put together things that anyone one might enjoy and also things that interest me that I want to send to the person.

I believe that sending someone a ACP is similar to sending them a Snapchat because only you and the person are communicating to each other where no one can see.  Also in an ACP, you can send the person a picture or letter.  As well as you can with Snapchat.  The difference between sending someone a ACP and sending someone a Snapchat is that you receive a Snapchat faster compared to an Art Care Package.  Also,  the photo or message that you send in Snapchat is on a screen and disappears, while when receiving an ACP you get to see it for yourself and keep it.

Depending on what the item is, ephemeral does gain value over time.  If the item is a movie ticket, then it won’t gain value over time versus a historic item that might be worth something overtime because it no longer exists.  The difference between Art seen at a Museum and an ACP is that in a Museum that art work has historic meaning while an ACP to someone has personal meaning to it.

Fast is better when sending someone a message such as Snapchat in order to receive a quick response.  If the person take long to respond, it is difficult to remember and keep up with the communication.  Slow is better when sending a ACP.  For example, you might want to send a friend a gift or card for their birthday and the earlier you send it, the person can sometimes receive it by their birthday.

You can prepare a meal with love as fast as you can get food at McDonald’s.  For example, a sandwich and chips is a delicious and quick meal.  When sending an ACP there is a love difference compared to Snapchat because you put more thought on what you want to send to the person.  Also, people sometimes tend to send personal things that have meaning to them.
